I wore it for so long
That it hardened and became a shell
Like the egg I hatched from.

I wore it for so long
That I thought I had always been
A ground walking thing.

I forgot how I flew.

Then one day I wished I could fly.
That brittle old shell
cracked and disintegrated.

I leaped into the sky.

Now I struggle to remember
How I bore walking upon the ground.
