3rd of 3. Finished years later then the other two, but with one of the original scraps of board.....

Cobri bolted away from Lothlorean, leaving her staring up at the gryphon in rapt horror. Panic seized her, along with disbelief that Cobri had abandoned her, until she realized that the gryphon had veered to follow his swiftly moving form. The beast nearly plummeted to the ground before leveling out behind Cobri. Breathless, Lothlorean watched as the gryphon extended its talons, gaining on the galloping stallion. She screamed reflexively as the creature struck suddenly, its wings enveloping them both.
Cobri whirled, throwing his full weight against the gryphon’s chest. Both were thrown to the ground, rolling in a flurry of feathers. The tall grass obscured Lothlorean’s view of the ensuing battle, but the screaming and Adriel’s circling guided her toward them. The tall stalks of grass whipped at her and slowed her progress frustratingly. Silence had settled over the Plains again by the time she made it to the battered clearing.
Cobri stood trembling in the center of a huge circle of flattened grass, his head bent to the gryphon’s neck. Bits of fluff and feathers swirled in the breeze as she slowly walked up to him. His throat rippled as he swallowed great gulps of the creature& #8217;s blood. His shoulders were criss-crossed with ragged claw marks. Rivulets of blood striped his legs, leading to a dark stain expanding out from his hooves.
He finally lifted his head, turning to her as she placed her hand on his bloody shoulder. His eyes glowed a brilliant pulsing red through the stray tendrils of his forelock. She tenderly pulled his hair back, leaving another streak of red across his brow. The warmth in his body seemed to sate her as well. His gaze seemed dark and regretful but she could only think of how beautiful he was, like a black shadow piercing the ever-lightening plain. And his eyes were the same perfect red as the blood dribbling from the corner of his mouth. Sensing her tender admiration, he focused completely on her, nickering softly.
“I leave you alone for ten seconds and you go off and mutilate yourself.” she scolded. But as she moved to examine the wounds she found that they had vanished. Lothlorean wiped the blood away to expose a flawless expanse of black hide.
No earthly creature can harm me because of you. You created me to be your immortal protector.
This was all too much for Lothlorean. She backed away. Too many impossible things had come true, too many possibilities, and too many promises. There was too much love and power suddenly placed on her shoulders. She felt very frail and self-conscious all of the sudden. She pulled her cloak tight around her.
