Willow by RavensLore Willow by RavensLore
I am not very familiar with Buffy, but I made this artwork for a friend who is crazy about Willow. I like the painting, she has a pretty face, and a self deprecating way about her I think. THis was my first attempt at oils. It was much harder than ithought it would be. I think I rushed it a lot, but got it to work out some how I think.

Thank you. You should have seen it half way through. I was horrified. It was a wreck. I almost threw it away. I learned that with oils you can keep at it until it looks good (or turns into a giant gray blob).

I'm glad you didn't throw it away!
:D
See I've never really worked in oils, but I'd love too :XD:
I'll keep that in mind if I try them

Great job again, it's still REALLY hard to believe this was you're first time using them so wow, imagine like 20 paintings later :aww:

Allyson Hannigan (aka: "Willow") is a fantastic beauty (whom I happen to be deeply infatuated with).
I recognized the portrait for who it was intended to be, instantly, seeing the thumbnail pic.
On full view, some of the similarities are lost, but you've done a magnificent job with this, your first oil. I am highly impressed.

Thanks. I never watched Buffy before, but my girlfriend loves the show, especially Willow. So I painted this for her. I think it was the first time I ever tried to paint with oils.

not bad for a first oil you know; the flesh flow a bit too much, but anyway, it's a nice work

Thank you for a very thoughtful comment. I enjoy your remarks on different mediums, and have put you in my list to read your journals when you post them. I like your Dark Phoenix artwork, she is such an intersting character, so many emotions and opportunity to portray her intensity.

I had some pictures of her from the internet. I had never heard of her before actually. I have since seen a few episodes of Buffy and she is definitely my favorite character. THe prints I had were kind of funny because I was out of yellow ink, so the colors, at least, were improvised.

Yes, I printed like six little copies of them and pasted them all around the artwork. :) They had little curling edges, and the color was off with little ghetto printer lines through them, but they served their purpose.
